Student Canvas Assembly Project

Making canvases at the Jonathan Foundation

We conducted a hands-on student support initiative involving the physical construction and assembly of art easels to improve creative classroom spaces for students at The Jonathan Foundation in Rwanda.

Learning to stretch your own canvas is one of the most foundational skills for a visual artist. This is because purchasing pre-made canvases is not always possible or affordable, but most importantly, the artist is best served by being self-sufficient in their practice.
