WOW, these kids are learning fast! Check out some of the new art works from the students at The Jonathan Foundation in Gashora, Rwanda. Between our instructional videos, zoom calls, and amazing aids at the Jonathan Foundation we’ve seen some huge strides in penmanship and artistry over the last few months. These images are from a still life workshop!

We’ve been hosting workshops throughout the summer and these young artists are advancing at an incredible pace! Even though the kids are out of school, they are still very dedicated to learning to make art! We’re artists ourselves and we know how valuable it is to have the time and space to make art at your own pace with amazing teachers. Here are some images from our new students.

The Colors of Cambodia school took a nod from the impressionists and beat the heat with some extra breeze and shade and did an outdoor workshop. There’s nothing like getting together to make art outside! They displayed their art works and worked with both students and people passing by to make art inspired by the light and nature around them outside.

Bringing art and music supplies and workshops to the Jonathan Foundation in Gashore, Rwanda has been a blast! These kids are particularly talented and making great strides in their mark making already. We’ve been thrilled to witness their dedication and focus and see some of their drawings.

Alumni and teachers from one of the program we support Colors of Cambodia, recently planned and created this beautiful mural together in downtown Siem Reap. The initiative was theirs entirely, they sought funding and approval from the city and created this piece together over the course of one week. It is truly an incredible moment that marks the power of community and creativity throughout the globe.

We took some of the instructors of Colors of Cambodia, all of whom are alumni of the Colors of Cambodia free arts program, on a field trip to Phnom Penh and Vietnam to see the art in different galleries and museums. We had such a blast! The truth is, you can look at a picture of a painting or work of art all day, but there’s just nothing like taking a look at the real thing. Many of the CoC instructors had never traveled outside of their home in Siem Reap. Here’s a recap of the good times.

The weekend music instruction program has commenced at Colors of Cambodia! Led by respected Detroit jazz musician Gerard Evans. Gerard teaches Western music theory, flute, and recorder to approximately 30 students at the Colors of Cambodia Art School and Gallery.

We conducted a hands-on student support initiative involving the physical construction and assembly of art easels to improve creative classroom spaces for students at The Jonathan Foundation in Rwanda.

We are funding and heading a music education initiative focused on providing advanced children with expanded musical learning opportunities and creative development support at the Jonathan Foundation in Gashore, Rwanda.
